This India Monsooned Malabar AA from Keezhanthoor in Kerala combines very low acidity with a full body and a pleasantly soft mouthfeel.

Fine notes of dark chocolate, nutmeg and pipe tobacco give it its distinctive flavor.

DESCRIPTION

This exceptional Monsooned Malabar AA is grown by 399 smallholder farmers from the Manarcadu Social Service Society. The Arabica beans grow in Keezhanthoor in the southern Indian state of Kerala at an altitude of 1,400 to 1,500 meters.

With a SCA score of 82.75, this coffee stands out for its full body, low acidity and pleasantly soft mouthfeel. Its characteristic flavor profile features notes of dark chocolate, nutmeg and pipe tobacco.

In the past, when coffee was transported by sailing ship, the journey took several months. During the voyage, the green coffee beans were exposed to high humidity, which altered their flavor and color. Consumers became so accustomed to this distinctive profile that the process is now deliberately recreated: during a method known as “monsooning,” the green coffee is exposed to humid monsoon winds for several weeks. This gives it its exceptionally mellow, low-acidity flavor profile.

The 100% Arabica coffee is packaged in a resealable aroma-protective bag.
