This Indian Monsooned Malabar AA from Chikkamagaluru, Karnataka, has a delicately tart aroma, a full body and very low acidity.

Subtle notes of cardamom, cocoa powder and tobacco define its distinctive flavour.

DESCRIPTION

This exceptional Monsooned Malabar AA comes from the producer Aspinwall. The Arabica beans are grown in the Chikkamagaluru region of Karnataka, India, at an altitude of 950 to 1,200 metres.

With an SCA score of 82.5, this coffee stands out for its full body, low acidity and characteristic aroma.

In the past, when coffee was transported by sailing ship, the journey took several months. During the voyage, the green beans were exposed to high humidity, which altered their flavour and colour. Consumers became so accustomed to this distinctive profile that the process is now recreated deliberately: during “monsooning”, the green coffee is exposed to humid monsoon winds for several weeks.
