DESCRIPTION
A mild specialty coffee with a full body and delicate acidity.
Costa Rica Jaguar Honey SHB is sourced from several smallholder farmers in Tarrazú, San José Province—one of Costa Rica’s most renowned coffee-growing regions. This 100% Arabica coffee is grown at elevations between 1,600 and 1,900 meters (5,250–6,230 feet).
With an SCA score of 85, it belongs to the category of high-quality specialty coffees and delights with its beautifully balanced flavor profile.
Delicate notes of peach, apricot, and sweet biscuit create a naturally sweet, well-balanced cup.
The coffee is processed at Beneficio San Diego, one of the largest and most modern coffee mills in Costa Rica. As its name suggests, Jaguar Honey SHB is produced using the Honey process. Despite the name, no honey is used. Instead, the skin of the coffee cherry is removed while part of the naturally sweet fruit layer, known as the mucilage, remains on the bean during drying.
Compared to washed processing, the Honey process requires significantly less water. The result is a coffee with natural sweetness, balanced acidity, and a flavor profile that combines the clean character of washed coffees with the sweetness typically found in naturally processed coffees.
By purchasing this coffee, you also support Fundazoo’s Jaguar Program in Costa Rica. Donations help fund research, habitat conservation, and educational initiatives to protect the country’s endangered jaguar population. Jaguars are considered an umbrella species, meaning that protecting them also helps preserve the habitats of countless other plant and animal species.
This 100% Arabica coffee is packaged in a resealable aroma-preserving bag.
