Our decaffeinated coffee from Huila, Colombia, proves that coffee without caffeine can still be wonderfully aromatic and versatile.

Thanks to the gentle CO₂ decaffeination process and our carefully tailored slow-roasting method, the beans retain as much of their characteristic aroma as possible.

DESCRIPTION

A decaffeinated specialty coffee with lively acidity and pleasant sweetness. Notes of gooseberry, green grape and malt create a beautifully balanced flavor profile.

This washed 100% Arabica coffee comes from various smallholder farmers in the Colombian region of Huila. The beans are grown at elevations ranging from 1,300 to 2,100 meters above sea level.

With an SCA score of 84, this decaffeinated coffee offers an enjoyable and complex taste experience—both as filter coffee and espresso.

HOW IS OUR COFFEE DECAFFEINATED?

Our coffee is decaffeinated using the CO₂ process. First, the green coffee is moistened with water and then placed in a pressurised vessel, where it comes into contact with carbon dioxide. As the CO₂ circulates through the coffee, it gently extracts the caffeine from the beans.

The caffeine is then separated from the carbon dioxide. The CO₂ can be reused and continues to circulate through the coffee until the desired residual caffeine level is reached. Finally, the beans are carefully dried until they return to their original moisture level.

Using a carefully tailored slow-roasting process, our specialty roaster treats the decaffeinated beans particularly gently. This preserves as much of their characteristic aroma as possible, resulting in a full-bodied, smooth and thoroughly enjoyable decaffeinated coffee.
