DESCRIPTION

An exceptionally sweet specialty coffee with a full body, balanced acidity, and a long, juicy finish.

Costa Rica Finca Frailes Anaerobic comes from Santa Cruz in Tarrazú, one of Costa Rica’s most renowned coffee-growing regions. This 100% Arabica coffee is grown at an elevation of around 1,600 meters. The mountainous terrain, lush vegetation, and clearly defined seasons provide ideal conditions for growing high-quality Arabica coffees.

With an SCA score of 87, this microlot ranks among the highest-quality specialty coffees. Carefully selected Caturra and Catuai coffee cherries give it its distinctive flavor profile.

Delicate notes of cinnamon, red apple, and brown sugar create exceptional natural sweetness. A full body, vibrant yet beautifully balanced acidity, and a long, juicy finish make this coffee a truly distinctive tasting experience.

What makes this coffee particularly special is its anaerobic processing method.

Only fully ripe coffee cherries are carefully selected by hand. After the skin is removed, the sweet fruit layer known as mucilage remains completely intact on the beans. They are then fermented in airtight stainless-steel tanks without exposure to oxygen.

During this controlled fermentation process, naturally occurring organic acids develop, particularly lactic and malic acids. These contribute to the coffee’s remarkable depth of flavor, complexity, and full mouthfeel.

After fermentation, the coffee beans are gently dried in the sun and then rested in storage, allowing their complex aromas and flavors to develop further.

Processing takes place at Beneficio San Diego, a historic coffee mill founded in 1888 and now considered one of the most modern in Costa Rica. Here, generations of experience are combined with innovative processing techniques and rigorous quality standards.

The result is an exceptionally aromatic coffee that combines the natural sweetness of fully ripe coffee cherries with the complexity of anaerobic fermentation.

This 100% Arabica coffee is shipped in a resealable, aroma-preserving bag.
