We have a new coffee from Costa Rica!

Introducing the Naranjo de Dota bean, named after its growing region in San José.

By purchasing this coffee, you directly support farms led by women.

DESCRIPTION

A balanced coffee with a silky body and delicate notes of strawberry, whipped cream, and milk chocolate.

The Tarrazú region, where this coffee is grown, is the cradle of Costa Rican specialty coffees. Located in the country's highlands, southeast of the capital San José, the Tarrazú mountains define the landscape, with coffee plantations situated at elevations exceeding 1,500 meters.

The farms cultivate Arabica coffee, primarily the Caturra and Catuaí varieties. All cherries are handpicked to ensure only the ripest coffee is selected, guaranteeing the high cup quality characteristic of the region.

This particular batch was grown in the remote areas of the Pirris River basin. The quality of Costa Rican coffee is shaped by its geography and climate. The combination of volcanic soil, cool and humid weather, optimal temperatures, sunlight, and distinct wet and dry seasons creates the perfect formula. The last cherries to ripen are found at the highest altitudes.

Gravel roads connect the various farms to nearby towns like San Pablo, San Marcos, and Santa María, collectively known as "Los Santos" (The Saints). This region is renowned as the birthplace of Costa Rican coffee exports to Europe.

Evaristo Madrigal Ureña is the owner and operator of Finca Cafetalera, located in southern San José near the small village of Naranjo. During the main harvest season, she employs 25 coffee pickers and manages the farm with three family members.

Her coffee is fully washed, fermented for 8 hours, and sun-dried for two weeks.

Our 100% Arabica coffee is packaged in a resealable bag to ensure freshness and preserve its aroma.
